Learn about the Norfolk Malayali Association and our mission.
It all started with a handful of Malayalees in Norfolk County who, far from their homeland, found themselves missing the warmth of home—its people, its food, its festivals. They realized that while life in a new country was exciting, it also brought a feeling of being disconnected from the things that made their culture unique. That's when the idea of the Norfolk Malayali Association (NMA) was born.
What began as a small group of friends gathering to share stories over a cup of tea and parippuvada quickly grew into a vibrant group. From cooking traditional dishes together to celebrating festivals like Onam, Christmas, Halloween, etc. the group created a place where they could laugh, learn, and support each other like a big family. It wasn't long before they realized their vision was bigger than just a few get-togethers—it was about creating a space for everyone in Norfolk County to experience the warmth, hospitality, and joy that the state of Kerala is known for.
Today, NMA is a place where tradition meets community. We're a family that celebrates who we are, while embracing the diversity around us. Whether you're from Kerala or just curious about the culture, you'll always feel at home here.

The Norfolk Malayali Association aims to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of Kerala while fostering a sense of community among Keralites living in Norfolk County, Canada.
We strive to:
NMA is open to everyone—regardless of background, ethnicity, or belief. We invite all to join in the journey of celebration, support, and connection.
